I am a Visual Arts Specialist at the Mason Early Childhood Center. I teach all kindergarten students (roughly 560 students) and 4 Autism class/SCSF (Social Communication School Fundamentals) and 2 Resource Room classes. I see kindergartners once a week for 30 minutes. We have a rotation on Monday's, so once every three weeks I will see your child 2x that week. Monday rotations are only 25 minutes long.

Community Mural
Faith Ringgold: born 1930 (85 yrs old)
African-American artist
As a class, we are talking about what it means to be a community. Community is a big word we use a lot in kindergarten and at MECC. Classroom teachers also cover a community project in their classroom, so this art project will be a great connection for the children.
Each Monday rotation week will do a different part of the mural. For example, week 1 students might be creating the houses. Week 2 the border and week 3 the background with people.
Since I was only at school for 1 Monday before going into labor, Mrs. Spires will be finishing the mural project with the other 2 Monday rotation day classes. Below are some pictures Mrs. Spires sent to me. The murals are looking amazing!!! I will add more pictures when the students from next Monday create their part.

Baby Genevieve has Arrived!
Genevieve Mary Varda arrived Tuesday, March 8th at 6:18pm. She weighed 8lbs. 6oz and was 21" long.
Labor was fairly quick, as I was expecting to still go to work Tuesday, but around 530 in the morning, I realized I was having contractions.
Melania, the big sister, is very excited her little sister is here!

Last belly pic before baby Genevieve's arrival! Quite a few students have said, "that baby is ready to come out!" And "you're still here? Your belly is really big."
LOL, it made me laugh.
