Cityscapes

Last week, kindergarten artists learned what a cityscape was (a picture of a city). We looked at pictures of downtown Cincinnati and talked about some of the buildings and their shapes. Then, we discussed how some roof tops were different and not all flat/straight across.
Children chose from using black or light blue 12x18 construction paper for their background then chose 5 or 6 rectangles in various colors for their buildings/skyscrapers. Then, children changed the rooftops of 2 or 3 of their buildings to show variety. Finally, they glued their buildings to their 12x18 paper. They will finish their cityscape by gluing windows to their buildings and drawing a sky.
Kindergarteners are doing a great job being in control of their glue bottle, holding at a diagonal and using our "Just a Dot, Not a Lot" method.
