2nd Grade Romero Britto

2nd grade students learned about artist Romero Britto. Britto is a Brazilian-American painter and sculptor and uses vibrant colors and bold patterns. Students will be creating a vase of flowers inspired by Britto and also understand the difference between geometric and organic shapes in this lesson. I will be using this project for Art to Remember (more information soon). We looked at tulip and rose flowers, talked about the shape of them and how they could be drawn. We decided to start with the letter U. After the children drew 3 flowers, they created a large vase, added stems and leaves, divided the vase into 4 parts and added a horizontal line for the table. The drawing will be traced in Sharpie then colored with Sharpies. The background will be watercolor and the table will be an implied texture.
