Some kindergarten classes visited the art room for the first time, so I briefly went over a couple procedures when coming to art. I explained that art on Monday's are shorter and I call it our "extra art day". Since our time was limited, I read the book, Art, by Patrick McDonnell, then had the children start decorating their art portfolio using markers. This gave me an idea of skill level of each student, who could write their name, etc. We also discussed how to take care of markers in the art room and remembering to listen for the "kindergarten click" before putting their marker back.
